The Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Department (SCSD) and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) are searching for a man who escaped on foot after a car pursue on Highway one hundred eleven in Sequatchie County Wednesday.
The HCSO says that around 1:17pm Wednesday, one of their K-9 deputies initiated a stop of a stolen black Toyota Celica on Highway twenty seven northbound.
Officers say the driver didn’t pull over, however, and led to a pursue on Highway one hundred eleven into Sequatchie County.
SCSD deputies say they joined in the pursuit after the car entered Sequatchie County.
HCSO Director of Support Services G. A. Bennett says that just after coming in Sequatchie, the car left the road and traveled over grass and onto a trail next to the highway in order to escape deputies.
Officers say they spotted the woman in the passenger seat throw a gun out of the car onto Highway twenty seven near the Hixson Pike exit. The gun was later found by deputies.
Deputies say the vehicle stopped on Hwy one hundred eleven near Shell Road, where the suspects escaped on foot. The female passenger, Karie Harper, was arrested on the scene.
Deputies say Hamilton County K-9 units tracked the man, who they have tentatively identified as Alvin Dale Shirley, but his track was lost.
The SCSD and HCSO says Shirley is still on the liberate, and could be in the area of Highway 111. Look above for a picture of the suspect.
Warrants for Shirley’s arrest are pending. Harper will be charged with resisting arrest, tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of a firearm.
