SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department (SCMPD) has arrested a suspect for the early morning shooting and vehicle crash that occurred in Downtown Savannah.
Jerry Chambers, 17, was charged with three counts of felony murder for the shooting and the deadly crash. Chambers also faces two counts of party to a crime and fleeing charges.

Chief Joseph H. Lumpkin, Sr. with SCMPD stated in a press conference this afternoon that the downtown shooting was “group-gang” related. Chief Lumpkin says Chambers belongs to a gang called “Only the Mob.”
“At this point, we don`t know that the man shot is a gang member,” says Chief Lumpkin.
Officers very first responded to the intersection of Jefferson Street and St. Julian Street near City Market at 12:13 a.m. Wednesday. Two subjects sustained non-life-threatening injuries and one subject is in critical but stable condition.
A white SUV neared the intersection and the occupant of the vehicle began firing a gun at a group of pedestrians. Three people were shot.
James Armanie-Brazelton, 23, and a 16-year-old masculine sustained injuries from this shooting. April Dixon, 22, later arrived at the hospital with injuries from the shooting. The 16-year-old masculine was critically injured. Armanie-Brazelton and Dixon suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
“I eyed hundreds of people sprinting through City Market. Once I could see…once I felt safe, I looked out the window and I eyed numerous people laying down,” said Patrick Brown, who was ending work in City Market.

“And ultimately police kind of ushered everyone through City Market.”
Officers quickly responded to the area and officers subsequently located the white SUV near Sustainable Fellwood. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled.
As a result of the pursuit, the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Bay Street and Barnard Street.
The vehicle struck six pedestrians when it crashed. Scott Waldrup, 30, was hit by the vehicle and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
The remaining five pedestrians suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Gabriel Magulias, 20, and Spencer Stuckey, 17, who were passengers in the perpetrator’s vehicle, also gave way to their injuries at the scene.
Jeffery Wilson, who was in town visiting from Hardeeville told News Trio`s Courtney Cole that he witnessed most of the incident.

“The car'a white SUV' was driving with no headlights on, switching lanes of course. He just literally ran into the pole and shoved somebody out the way.”
He added that he was in a state of shock. “I’ve never witnessed anything like that before.”
The incident has since brought up concerns about safety around the city.
Police report a 2nd shooting at 12:27 a.m. near Jefferson Street and Broughton Street. One person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers located Travis Kimble, 17, who was suffering from non-life –threatening injuries. According to SCMPD, Kimble has not been cooperative with police.
At this time it is unknown if the two shootings are related.

Mayor Eddie DeLoach spoke to the safety concerns in a press conference this afternoon, reiterating the efforts being made by the City.
“This violence in our city must stop and it must stop now,” DeLoach said. Over the next three years, the City plans to add one hundred fifty extra officers.
“We need to have those officers in place now so that the chief can interrupt that before it gets downtown,” said Mayor DeLoach. “We have got to increase our numbers.”
SCMPD is continuing to investigate both shootings. Georgia State Patrol is now investigating the crash.

Officers very first responded to the intersection of Jefferson Street and St. Julian Street near City Market at 12:13 a.m. Wednesday. Two subjects sustained non-life-threatening injuries and one subject is in critical but stable condition.
A white SUV neared the intersection and the occupant of the vehicle began firing a gun at a group of pedestrians. Three people were shot.
James Armanie-Brazelton, 23, and a 16-year-old masculine sustained injuries from this shooting. April Dixon, 22, later arrived at the hospital with injuries from the shooting. The 16-year-old masculine was critically injured. Armanie-Brazelton and Dixon suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
“I witnessed hundreds of people sprinting through City Market. Once I could see…once I felt safe, I looked out the window and I eyed numerous people laying down,” said Patrick Brown, who was ending work in City Market.

“And ultimately police kind of ushered everyone through City Market.”
Officers quickly responded to the area and officers subsequently located the white SUV near Sustainable Fellwood. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled.
As a result of the pursuit, the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Bay Street and Barnard Street.
The vehicle struck six pedestrians when it crashed. Scott Waldrup, 30, was hit by the vehicle and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
The remaining five pedestrians suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
Gabriel Magulias, 20, and Spencer Stuckey, 17, who were passengers in the perpetrator’s vehicle, also gave way to their injuries at the scene.
Jeffery Wilson, who was in town visiting from Hardeeville told News Three`s Courtney Cole that he witnessed most of the incident.

“The car'a white SUV' was driving with no headlights on, switching lanes of course. He just literally ran into the pole and shoved somebody out the way.”
He added that he was in a state of shock. “I’ve never witnessed anything like that before.”
The incident has since brought up concerns about safety around the city.
Police report a 2nd shooting at 12:27 a.m. near Jefferson Street and Broughton Street. One person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers located Travis Kimble, 17, who was suffering from non-life –threatening injuries. According to SCMPD, Kimble has not been cooperative with police.
At this time it is unknown if the two shootings are related.

Mayor Eddie DeLoach spoke to the safety concerns in a press conference this afternoon, reiterating the efforts being made by the City.
“This violence in our city must stop and it must stop now,” DeLoach said. Over the next three years, the City plans to add one hundred fifty extra officers.
“We need to have those officers in place now so that the chief can interrupt that before it gets downtown,” said Mayor DeLoach. “We have got to increase our numbers.”
SCMPD is continuing to investigate both shootings. Georgia State Patrol is now investigating the crash.
