If you have waited all this while to buy a car, you’re in luck. GST, the term so widely spoken about since the last few months has eventually been spinned out. While it’s affected a lot of businesses, it has majorly affected the car industry too. There was a lot of speculation about prices enhancing, decreasing across different segment of cars leading to a lot of confusion. Here’s the list of cars whose prices have been affected.
Let’s talk about the categories very first. Under GST, there will be four main vehicle categories – petite cars, large cars, electrical vehicles and hybrids. Most vehicle categories will fall under a standard twenty eight percent tax rate, along with a provision to separately levy an extra variable cess on any category. The automobile sector is unlikely to see any major dip in request, considering there has been a reduction in taxation across the board with the drop ranging from Two.25 to twelve percent, depending on the vehicle category. Petite cars are lightly the thickest and most popular segment in India and its Maruti Suzuki that leads the pack here. Cars like the Alto, Wagon R, Swift, DZire, Celerio, Ignis, Vitara Brezza, Baleno, Eeco and Omni have got price cuts inbetween Rs. Five thousand to Rs. 22000.
Maruti’s premium sedan, the Ciaz (petrol) has got a price cut of around Rs. Seven thousand – forty thousand depending on the variants.
Puny cars from Hyundai like the Eon, Grand i10, Elite i20, Xcent and the i20 Active are now cheaper by around Rs. Eight thousand to Rs. 24,000.
The sedans which include the Verna and the Elantra are cheaper by Rs. 27,000 to Rs. 70,000.
Hyundai’s popular SUV’s, namely the Creta, Tucson and the Santa Fe are now cheaper by Rs. One lakh to Two.Five lakh.
Prices for Tata’s puny car bunch, the Nano, Tiago, Tigor, Zest, Bolt, Indica and the Indigo are down by about Rs. Five thousand to 21,000.
The Sumo, Safari and the Hexa get thicker cuts and will now be more affordable by Rs. 80,000 to 1.60 lakh.
The Brio, Jazz, Amaze and WR-V prices are down by Rs. 11,000 – 24,000 while the City and CR-V prices are cut by Rs. 31,000 and Two.30 lakh respectively.
Prices for the Etios and the Corolla are down by Rs. 13,500 to Rs. 57,000, while the ever popular Fortuner and the Land Cruiser prices are down by a whopping Rs. Three lakh to Rs. Ten.50 lakh.
The KUV100, TUV300, Verito Vibe have seen cuts ranging from Rs. 11,000 to Rs. 36,000.
Renaults compacts, the Kwid and the Pulse get price cuts from Rs. Six thousand to Rs. 17,000. The Duster is now cheaper by up to Rs. One lakh.
The Micra and the Micra Active are now cheaper by up to Rs. 11,000 while the Sunny is now cheaper by up to Rs. 32,500. The Terrano SUV as expected gets the thickest price cut of Rs. 1.20 lakh.
The Polo, Ameo and Polo GT are now cheaper by up to Rs. 13,000- to Rs. 22,000. The sedans like the Vento and the Jetta get benefits from up to Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 75,000.
The freshly launched Tiguan SUV is also cheaper by Rs. Three.30 lakh making it better value.
The Figo, Aspire, EcoSport get benefits ranging from Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 13,000. The Endeavour is a whopping Rs. Two.70 lakh cheaper.
Isuzu’s foot SUV, the MU-X is now cheaper by Rs. Three lakh.
Mercedes-Benz has seen price cuts ranging inbetween 1.25 lakh to Rs. Seven lakh across its range.
The BMW range is now cheaper across the range from Rs one lakh to four lakh.
